![]() Joico’s Color Intensity line is fairly inexpensive, highly accessible, and very popular. I understand that Joico cannot guarantee their estimates 100% of the time, but in my experience – and from reviews and videos I have seen – this is pretty much seen as a long-lasting color across the board. Of course, this also depends on your hair care routine, your environment, your genes, and some other factors. Third, the color lasts for an impressive amount of time. That seems trivial to some, but it isn’t. Second, the color is pretty much spot on, very identical to the description and color on the box. First of all, as I said before, the variety is wonderful, and the fact that you can mix shades widens the spectrum considerably. I just want to say a few things about this line of hair colors. The FDA doesn’t require that cosmetics products be given a green light, like in the case of pharmaceutical drugs and foodstuff. It comes down to whether or not this product has any backing. You take a risk any time you put something on your scalp. Obviously, if you are known to be susceptible to anything that may be written on the box’s list of ingredients, then you should avoid it. There are a few things which you should pay attention to when dying your hair, and it doesn’t matter if it is permanent or semi-permanent. Joico’s products are considered safe to use. These guys don’t stop making new and exciting colors, which is pretty fantastic for those who are into it. Thirty different shades, give or take, and there is always something new which Joico is either launching or about to launch. Occasionally, Joico will announce some new limited-edition addition to the line but, overall, you have bold shades, metallic shades, and pastel shades. Creative freedom for professionals and laypeople, and that means a lot. And the fact that you can mix shades means that the possibilities are near-endless. I must agree with their creative team on that one, and I feel that it’s a great way to express a simple truth: Joico’s colors are truly fabulous. When Joico first came out with this line, their chosen slogan was “Into the Rainbow”. Those two ingredients are a world entire all on their own, and they’re definitely part of what keeps those colors shining, even after multiple washes or rinses. What makes this line of colors so distinctive is the ingredients, which include kukui nut oil and Joico’s proprietary Quadramine Complex. Semi-permanent colors which have such vibrancy and vitality were often attempted but never perfected to the degree that Joico’s products have achieved. When Joico first came out with this line in the early 2010’s – if I remember correctly – it was already a hit. I've stored mixed colors for a year with no problem. This is one of the most exciting color lines to ever hit the market. If you do over mix just store your left over color in an airtight jar or container (lid doesn't need to be touching color). Start with mixing a very small amount and rub a bit on a paper towel, keeping in mind it'll come out about a shade lighter on your hair. I think I would go with Hot Pink and Blush from the Pearl Pastels, and I would do 2 parts Soft Pink and 1 part Hot Pink. You could mix 1 part Hot pink and 2 parts Soft Pink, but that might still be a bit bright for what you're looking for. If you just do hot pink and clear you're going to end up with more of a highlighter pink. The problem with the site is that they list all core Color Intensity shades together, and then the Pearl Pastels, the Metalics, the Love Aura collection and any new/special releases (Kelly green and true blue, aqua blue and lime light) all separately and if you just search "Joico Color Intensity" it doesn't always bring up the other collections. It goes a bit quicker if you sort by price, low to high. Also, if you are ordering from the CosmoProf website, search by brand, Joico, and then you have to just scroll through all the products. This swatch chart is way out of date - they haven't had orange for at least 2 years. I'm a stylist, going on 13 years of working exclusively with joico. ![]()
